Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday made a bold statement during a public gathering, declaring that if Pakistan does not surpass India in progress, “then my name is not Shehbaz Sharif.”
Sharif made the remarks to a large crowd in Dera Ghazi Khan, where he also inaugurated several development projects and vowed to lead Pakistan out of its current challenges to make it a great nation.
“If we don’t leave India behind, then my name is not Shehbaz Sharif. We will make Pakistan a great nation and move ahead of India,” Sharif stated while expressing his determination to outpace India.

The Prime Minister confidently proclaimed that Pakistan’s future is destined for greatness and promised to guide the country towards prosperity, as per HUM News English report.
He further stated that under his leadership, Pakistan would focus on building a self-sustaining economy rather than relying on loans. Sharif also pointed to the country’s recent reduction in inflation, claiming it had dropped from 40 per cent when his government took charge to just 2 per cent today.
Remarks Spark Reactions On X
Meanwhile, Sharif’s remarks have sparked significant attention on social media, both in Pakistan and India. Many users on X found his statement amusing, while others joked about the possibility of giving him a new name.
One user sarcastically remarked, “Dawai nahi liya aaj ka, lost his mental balance.”
Another user remarked, “We’ll have to come up with a new name.” Meanwhile, another said, “This is the kind of confidence one needs in life.”
One user humorously suggested, “Leave champions trophy they should host clown Olympics it will be a instant hit.”
Another user simply stated, “What a joke.”
Just earlier this month, Sharif had expressed a desire for peaceful dialogue with India, stating that Pakistan was keen to resolve all issues, including the contentious Kashmir dispute, through talks.
He had made these comments during a special session of the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) Legislative Assembly in Muzaffarabad on the occasion of the “Kashmir Solidarity Day”, an annual Pakistani event to show support for the Kashmiris.
